Tasting Notes

  • Colour: A warm savoury medium red, with vibrant hues
  • Bouquet: Black and white pepper notes lead into fresh red forest fruits. Some layers with licorice and other darker spice notes in nuance.
  • Palate: Smooth and medium bodied palate, very evenly balanced and supply structured. Some very long clean fruit notes on finish, and even a touch of oak.
  • Vineyard & Vintage Comments: The 2011 vintage highlighted different aspect of Mavericks terroirs, delivering edgier structures and earlier-ripeness flavour profiles while retaining good acid structures. Careful fruit selection and handling in the winery were key to providing suitable options for maturation in oak.
