Tasting Notes

    James Halliday Rating
  • Colour: Scarlet blood on warm brick
  • Bouquet: Layers of sweet black fruit, some dark spices, subdued flashes of oak
  • Palate: Silky and supple, balanced and moderately weighted with good flesh. Finishing soft, clean and dry. Very good strong persistence of boysenberry and blackcurrant flavours.
  • Vineyard & Vintage Comments: 2012 was a dream vintage for the Barossa. A cool and deliberate summer gave us perfect ripening conditions. This vintage was our first look at the established Shiraz and Cabernet on our new Vine Vale vineyard. Excellent colour, ripe tannins, fruit weight and flavour were all there. Fermentation was controlled to 25 30 deg C, and minimal acid or tannin adjustments are made. Since pressing the wine has rested in old oak for 18 months.
