Tasting Notes

  • Colour: Bright pale yellow with green hues
  • Bouquet: Melon, grapefruit and other fruits combine with brioche, vanilla and spicy notes, to give a beautiful fresh, clean, fruit driven nose.
  • Palate: This reflects the nose. The overall result is a clean, fresh, enchanting wine which has great length and layers of subtle variety.
  • Vineyard & Vintage Comments: Maverick’s 0.9 hectare Martin’s Block at our Trial Hill Chardonnay vineyards in Pewsey Vale is situated in its own small Northern facing amphitheatre of schists and quartz covered clay soil. The combination of mature vines, biodynamic viticulture and dry farming give a very pure, intense fruit which finds perfect expression in the wine. The 2008 harvest was extremely short and hot, tempered by the cooler evenings of the Eden Valley. This allowed for the development of very intense fruit flavours, which in turn produced a wonderful Eden Valley Chardonnay.
