Tasting Notes

  • Colour: Rich magenta
  • Bouquet: Full and open with ripe black flesh plums and cherries and a whiff of red berry, in the background the sweeter spice notes of French oak complementing a hint of savoury herb
  • Palate: A lovely sumptuous approach of soft yeilding flesh and layers of supple structure. The soft and very drinkable balance in the mid tapers to a long expressive finish of primary fruit and fine tannin.
  • Vineyard & Vintage Comments: 2012 was another good year for the Barossa. Concentration was good and ripeness across the parameters was even, giving fruit of exceptional balance and expression although yield was down. Fermentation was regular and cool with twice daily pigeage in open fermenters for 7-8 days. Elevage of 20 months in 2 and 3 year old French oak integrated the structure ready for barrel selection and bottling in late 2013.
