2009 Twins Rousanne Viognier (12 bottles minimum)

The 2009 Twins Rousanne Viognier is a new addition to the Twins range, from two tiny vineyards in Greenock producing fruit which is short in supply but high in quality. We thought that even with the small volumes produced this wine would be a wonderful addition to our portfolio, showing again the diversity of varieties and styles which come from our region. The wine exudes class with Northern Rhone essence.

Tasting Notes

  • Colour: Clear pale yellow with green hues.
  • Bouquet: A more elegant style than the daily visicous oily interpretations which often characterise the new world interpretation. The Rousanne's houney suckle and pear blend seamlessly with the Viognier's floral spice. A fine and floral wine that offers aromas of white peach, ginger snap, musk and an array of spices.
  • Palate: Smooth and supple, with white peach and apricot flavours. The apricot and ginger notes follow through to the finish with sufficient acidity to keep the wine clean and fresh.
  • Vineyard & Vintage Comments: Maverick's two Viognier and Rousanne blocks at Greenock Rise in the heart of the Barossa Valley produce very limited quantities of fruit of exceptional elegance and balance. In spite of the hot and dry conditions experienced throughout the 2009 ripening season, the wine is lively with great fruit and acidity. The grapes were harvested in early March under ideal conditions. Fermentation was carried out in stainless steel vats followed by 10 months in stainless steel
