Tasting Notes

  • Colour: Ruby red with vibrant blood orange hues.
  • Bouquet: Lovely soft elegant nose with spicy chocolate orange, Morello cherries, ginger and fresh cedar.
  • Palate: Luxuriously soft, generous, fine raw silk palate which intrigues and surprises.
  • Vineyard & Vintage Comments: Our Greenock Rise Old Bush Vine Grenache vines have stood patiently in their ranks for 116 years, like the old centurions they are! This magnificent small 0.8 acre block has over a century produced Grenache of unbelievable complexity and intensity of flavor, which for the first time is allowed to express itself in a single vineyard single variety wine which is truly unique and iconic. This expresses better than words the history of viticultural excellence and enshrined in the Barossa. A good vintage. The grapes were picked in early April. Fine weather throughout allowed for clean even ripening without disease pressure. Moderate yields.
