2011 Maverick Paraview Barossa Valley Shiraz

$50.00

Owned by the Braunack family who created Langmeil, it is situated above the Para River with views over the Barossa Valley. This 3.75 Ha vineyard gets cooling evening breezes that flow across the top of this hill. The gently undulating red clay soils are conducive to softer fruit-driven styles.

Tasting Notes

  • Colour: Fresh vibrant purple
  • Bouquet: Sweet black fruits on a butter fried pancake
  • Palate: Really nice mid-weight presence. Soft, poised and restrained. Little oak but a seamless fruit texture all the way. Blackberries, black cherries and a touch of black coffee linger
  • Vineyard & Vintage Comments: A warm spring after a wet winter that replenished soil moisture led to an early budburst. The weather cooled for dry and mild ripening conditions leading to a slightly later harvest after the early start. These conditions were perfect for developing flavour intensity and tannin ripeness together. This parcel was fermented with an inoculated yeast for a moderately cool ferment on skins of 8 days, Maturation in 3 to 4 year old French oak after an early racking brought it to bottling in early 2012.
