Maverick Single Vineyard Series

Maverick’s goal was to show the world that the Barossa Valley and Eden Valley could produce single vineyard, terroir-driven, biodynamically grown grapes/wines which are truly second to none. Our Trial Hill single vineyard Shiraz (RSP$70) rapidly became one of our flagships, and has graced the tables of top dining establishments worldwide. It has since been joined by our single vineyard Shirazes from Greenock Rise (RSP$60), Old Ben (RSP$50) and Paraview (RSP$40). The winemaking techniques and philosophies are same throughout but the wines are radically different reflecting the different soils and terroirs. The Paraview is made in French oak puncheons, resulting in half the oak exposure, more rapid maturing, and an excellent offering at a lower price than its sisters. Other single vineyard wines comprise the Greenock Rise Old Bush Vine Grenache (from 1895 vines), the Trial Hill Chardonnay, and the Trial Hill Riesling, all of which are Maverick icons.

Jasper Morrison Bottle

Jasper Morrison is universally acknowledged as one of the very top industrial designers, probably best known for his Alessi kitchenware and Flos lamps. Over a period of several years he designed the Maverick single vineyard bottle – the result is truly Jasper: simple but complicated, understated but elegant, and thoroughly unique. The bottles are made by Saverglass in France. The absence of a “punt” means that the bottles are 30% less heavy than the normal bottle, thus environmentally friendly in keeping with the overall Maverick philosophy. Since 2007, this bottle has been used for all single vineyard wines except the Trial Hill Riesling and the Greenock Rise Old Bush Vine Grenache.
