Description
The 2008 Maverick Breechens Blend Red is a perfect example of the very best of what the Barossa has to offer. In style, it is truly a “Maverick house wine”, combining fresh fruit with complexity and soft lingering tannins. The wine is an exciting combination of vibrant, fleshy fruit and savoury textural elements.
Colour
Deep garnet/ruby red
Bouquet
Flavours of aromas and ripe blackberry and cherries combined with more subtle notes of spice, coco and dusty French oak.
Palate
Soft and juicy, with lovely texture and intensity. Excellent balance with great length. The textured palate finishes with savoury coating tannins.
Vineyard and vintage comments:
The grapes come from Maverick’s vineyards across the Barossa Valley and Eden Valley, combining the very best that our different terroirs have to offer. Not surprisingly, the Shiraz variety dominates reflecting our vineyard holdings. Each component batch is of wine is vinified at our winery, very much in the Maverick house style. All the wines are matured in French oak barrels. Despite the heat, brevity and intensity of what was probably the shortest and earliest harvest in recent Barossa history, the wine has great structure, balance, elegance with an excellent finish
